No. 6 SOU locks up conference title, auto bid to national tournament 2/14/2016 2:56:00 PM SOU Sports Information ASHLAND – With a chance to clinch the Cascade Conference title, the No. 1 seed in the CCC tournament and an automatic bid to the national tournament, the Southern Oregon women's basketball team left no doubts Sunday afternoon in a 92-48 defeat of College of Idaho at Mountain Avenue Gym. The sixth-ranked Raiders (24-1 overall, 17-1 CCC) jumped all over the Coyotes (8-17, 7-12) early, staking to a 24-3 lead eight minutes into the game and piling on from there. They were sparked by the most complete stat line of junior Autumn Durand's career – 11 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals – and force C of I into 20 turnovers and a 26-percent clip from the field. Meanwhile, Eastern Oregon's 73-63 win over Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls gave both teams three CCC losses and made the Raiders the outright regular-season champions. The CCC title is SOU's fifth since the conference was formed before the 1992-93 season, and the first since 2007-08. SOU finishes the regular season next Friday and Saturday at Northwest Christian and Corban. The Raiders will have homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs, starting with the quarterfinal round at 7 p.m. on Feb. 23. On their senior day, Raiders Ashley Claussen, Carly Meister and Kristin Smeaton also became the players with the most career wins (98) in the 43-year history of the program. Claussen went for 18 points and four assists in just 20 minutes of work, Meister had 13 points and seven rebounds and Smeaton chipped in six points, three boards and two assists in her first-ever start. The Raiders shot 49 percent (36-for-73) from the field. Meister, a night after going 10-for-11, went 5-for-7. Courtney Setzer also shot 5-of-6 for 14 points and five rebounds off the bench, and Majerle Reeves canned three 3-pointers to finish with 11 points. SOU was up 49-27 by halftime and 78-40 after three quarters. The Raiders have now won 27 straight regular-season home games, 21 straight CCC regular-season home games and eight straight overall. The Coyotes have lost six straight in the head-to-head series with the Raiders. They got eight points apiece from Petra Lumpert, Kiara Skinner and Ryleigh Swagerty.
