College of Idaho Earns 4th Seed With Win Over Wolves
COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Walla Walla University (4-24, 2-18) shot 14% from the field in the first half and dropped their last game of the season to The College of Idaho (17-12, 12-8) by a score of 43-57.
After six minutes of play, the Wolves trailed by a score of 1-6 in one of the lowest scoring first halves of the season.
Joey Nebeker from The College of Idaho would give his team a 7 point lead, 15-8, after getting fouled on the shot and making both of his free-throws. The Wolves came right back with a 3 pointer from Michael Isotalo who brought the score to 11-15. Luke Spady would get fouled on a 3 point attempt and brought the score to 14-15 after hitting all of his free-throws.
A layup from Andrew Bruce gave the Yotes their biggest lead of the half, 22-14 but Chad Torkelsen cut the lead to 6 with a layup of his own to send the game into half with a score of 16-22.
The second half would see the Yotes slowly pull away from the Wolves. Aitor Zubizarreta would give the visitors their biggest lead of the night when he hit a 3 pointer to bring the score to 55-34. The Wolves would go on a 9-2 run to finish up the game but it wasn’t enough as the game ended with a score of 43-57.
Marck Coffin earned a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Yotes. Aitor Zubizarreta and Joey Nebeker each had 11 points.
Ethan Osias, Chad Torkelsen and Ryan Spady each had 8 points. Luke Spady, who’s had to sit out most of the season due to a knee injury and the only senior playing on senior night, had 4 points and 2 steals.
