Semifinals of the CCC Women’s Basketball Championship Set to Begin
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The semifinals for the 2015-16 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Championship presented by U.S. Bank will tip off tonight at 7 p.m. with games being played in Ashland, Ore., and Klamath Falls, Ore.
No. 4 Northwest Christian (23-8, 12-8 CCC) at No. 1 Southern Oregon (27-1, 19-1 CCC)
7 p.m. PST – Ashland, Ore.
Top-seeded Southern Oregon surpassed a slow start in the quarterfinal round, defeating College of Idaho 87-50 to advance in the tournament. Majerle Reeves led a Raider squad with 18 points as the team totaled 57 points from the bench.
Fourth-seeded Northwest Christian refused to let their season end, erasing a 15-point deficit to defeat fifth-seed Corban 68-56. Hanna Mack and Andrea Gloss with tallied 13 points against the Warriors and combined for a total seven blocks.
The Beacons lost both regular season meetings with the Raiders but held Southern Oregon to their lowest score of the season in their last contest, losing 55-42.
No. 3 Eastern Oregon (21-9, 16-4 CCC) at No. 2 Oregon Tech (24-7, 16-4 CCC)
7 p.m. PST – Ashland, Ore.
Second-seed Oregon Tech had a comfortable win in the quarterfinal round, defeating seventh-seeded Warner Pacific 70-47 to make it to the semifinals. Tess Armstrong and Morgan Roberts each had 13 points while Karly LeVeque added 12 points of her own.
Third-seed Eastern Oregon breezed past sixth-seeded Northwest as Jordan Klebaum (22) and Madeline Laan (21) each scored over 20 points in a 74-59 win.
Oregon Tech and Eastern split the regular season meetings with each team picking up a win on the road.
Friday's winners will play for a conference championship on Monday, Feb. 29, at the home of the highest remaining seed with game time set for 7 p.m.
