Oregon Tech Takes on Southern Oregon in CCC Women’s Basketball Championship Game
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Second seeded Oregon Tech will face off against top-seeded and fifth-ranked Southern Oregon in the 2015-16 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Championship game presented by U.S. Bank tonight at 7 p.m. in Ashland, Ore.
No. 2 Oregon Tech (25-7, 16-4 CCC) at No. 1 Southern Oregon (28-1, 19-1 CCC)

After defeating College of Idaho 87-50 in the quarterfinal round, Southern Oregon cruised to the championship game with a 92-62 victory over fourth-seed Northwest Christian in the semifinals. CCC leading scorer Ashley Claussen scored a game-high 20 points against the Beacons while Carly Meister registered 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Second-seed Oregon Tech had an easy time in the quarterfinals, defeating seventh-seeded Warner Pacific 70-47, but had bigger challenge against third-seed Eastern Oregon. Trailing by eight points against the visiting Mountaineers, Oregon Tech used an 18-2 run to clinch their title spot with a 51-43 win. Tess Armstrong scored 12 points to lead the Owls while Karly LeVeque and Megan Whetstone each added 11 points.
The Raiders won both regular season contests against Oregon Tech with the latest meeting ending 71-64 in Ashland.
With Southern Oregon finishing as regular season champions and Oregon coming into the tournament as the number two seed, both teams have already punched their tickets to the NAIA National tournament, earning both conference automatic qualifiers.
