Four Owls Finish in Double Digits in 83-38 Victory over Walla Walla University
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech had four players in double digits and held Walla Walla University to just 26-percent from the floor on the way to an 83-38 victory in Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s basketball action this afternoon at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech improved to 20-5 overall and 13-2 in CCC action. Oregon Tech travels to Ashland on February 9 to take on rival Southern Oregon University. WWU is winless on the year at 0-23 and 1-16 in CCC play.
Oregon Tech utilized an 18-0 run early in the first quarter to lead 25-5. Tech would hold a 30-7 advantage at the end of the opening frame.
Ashleigh Vandenbrink drilled three-straight from long range to open the second quarter as the Owls led 39-9. Vandenbrink would hit six in a row from long distance and seven from the floor before recording a miss.
A 67.9% effort from the floor, including 9-for-12 from the 3-point line in the opening half sent the Owls to the break with a 58-18 lead.
Tech would hold the Wolves to just 12 points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth quarter for the final 83-38 score.
Ashleigh Vandenbrink led all scorers with a game-high 20 points. Vandenbrink finished 6-of-8 from the 3-point line and 7-for-9 from the floor in just 13 minutes played. Tess Armstrong tallied 12 points and five assists with Megan Whetstone and Bailey Nelson chipping in 10 points each in the win. Morgan Roberts netted nine points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists. Carly McIsaac snared a game-high nine rebounds and added five points.
Christina Thermidor paced WWU with 10 points, followed by nine points from Grace Wallace. Lauren Pernu finished with five points, five rebounds and five assists in the loss.
