KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Corban University notched 10 runs in the fourth inning of game 1 and capitalized on seven Oregon Tech errors in the nightcap, as the Owls dropped a NAIA West doubleheader, 13-5 and 12-3, this afternoon at Kiger Stadium.

Oregon Tech (9-20, 2-10 NAIA W) and Corban (9-12, 6-6 NAIA W) conclude a four-game series tomorrow with a single nine inning non-conference game Sunday at Kiger Stadium beginning at 11 a.m.

Game 1 –

Corban jumped up 11-0 with a run in the first to go with 10 more in the fourth inning.  Daniel Frieburger led off with a homerun.  Jackson Smith recorded two of CU’s nine hits in the fourth inning, driving in four total runs in the frame.  Ryan Rosas would record a hit and two RBI in the inning.

Oregon Tech got on the board with four runs in the fifth inning.  Danny Topps singled in two runs, while Michael Kilpatrick connected on a two-run homer making it an 11-4 contest.

The Warriors added two in their final at-bat with Tech scoring a single run in the bottom of the ninth for the 13-5 final.

Tyler Bennett suffered the loss allowing nine hits and eight runs in 3.1 innings.  Carson Miller finished the final 5.2 innings striking out three and scattering seven hits.

Topps, Kilpatrick, Louis Wolf and Loren Cutolo finished with two hits each with Kilpatrick driving in three runs.

Gonzalez finished the game with two doubles and Davis Alderman one in the win for CU.  Gonzalez was 4-for-5 at the plate, while Smith had three hits and four RBI and Alderman 3-for-6.  Daniel Gober earned the win for the Warriors with Jarett Thoren tossing the final three frames to pick up his first save of the season.

Game 2 –

Four errors in the first inning of the nightcap buried the Owls, as Corban scored five unearned runs in their first at-bat.

Leading 7-0 after two more in the third, Oregon Tech plated a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth, cutting their deficit to 7-3.

Back-to-back doubles by Matthew Moorehead and Loren Cutolo got the Owls on the board in the fourth inning.  Tech would get back-to-back doubles from Kilpatrick and Ryan Grant for their first run of the fifth inning with Colton Hinrickson plating Kilpatrick for Tech second score.

Four Warrior runs in the sixth inning, however, proved too much for the Owls to overcome.   CU’s single run in the seventh inning made 12-3 with the game ending by the same score.

Topps, Grant and Hinrickson tallied two hits each.  Evan Johnson took the loss going 4.0 innings with two earned runs and two strikeouts for Tech.

Braden Wolgamott, Ben Liogon, Gonzalez and Smith tallied two hits apiece with Jackson driving in two more in the win for the Warriors.  Hayden Calvert, Smith and Gonzalez doubled with Rilyn Lewchuck earning the win.  Lewchuck went 5.0 innings allowing eight hits three runs and striking out four.
