LEWISTON, Idaho – Senior right-hander Quin Grogan (SR/Stanfield, Ore.) asked for the ball and he delivered in a big way on Sunday, twirling the first complete-game no-hitter for the Lewis-Clark State College baseball team since Feb. 19, 1999 in a 10-0 win over Simpson University.

The Stanfield, Ore. native is the 17th Warrior to toss a complete game no-hitter and it's the 25th no-no in program history. It is also the first to be tossed at Harris Field since Clint Cameron accomplished the feat on Sunday, April 12, 1998 against St. Martin's.

Grogan was masterful in the win allowing just two base runners on a pair of walks while striking out nine to earn his first win of the season.

After sitting down the first four Redhawks, Grogan issued a pair of walks, but that's all Simpson got as the Warriors' righty retired the next 17 to place his in name in the LCSC record books.

The offense took care of its end of the win belting out 16 hits with eight going for extra bases including three doubles from Micah Brown (SO/Medord, Ore.) and a near cycle by J.J. Robinson (JR/Colfax, Wash.).

The Warriors scored in all six innings with single runs in the first, second, third and fifth innings and three spots in the fourth and sixth.

In the first, Jacob Zanon (JR/Beaverton, Ore.) led off with a single and scored two batters later on a one-out single by Robinson, the first of his three hits.

In the second, a pair of doubles plated the second run. Brown doubled to left center with one out and a two-out double by Robert Smith, Jr. plated Brown for the 2-0 lead.

Robinson blasted his sixth home run of the season to lead off the third and then doubled in a run in the fourth, finishing just a triple shy of the cycle. Brown got the fourth inning started with his second two bagger and scored on Zanon's second hit of the contest. Robinson's two-out double plated Zanon and Gunnar Buhner (JR/Issaquah, Wash.) continued his hot streak with an RBI single to push the lead to six.

Back-to-back two-out doubles by Brown and Zanon plated the seventh run in the fifth. Then in the sixth, back-to-back RBI singles by Buhner and Tyler McDowell (SO/Puyallup, Wash.) plated Cabe Reiten (SR/Spanaway, Wash.), who reached on a double, and Robinson, who walked, to push the lead to nine. A sacrifice fly by Cooper Goldby (JR/Yuba City, Calif.) plated Buhner and led to the 10-run rule victory in seven innings.

Zanon, Robinson, Buhner and Brown each collected three hits in the contest with Robinson finishing 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Zanon and Buhner each added two RBI with the former scoring twice and the later once.

The victory is the 20th on the season as the Warriors improve to 20-2 overall with Simpson falling to 2-24. In the series LCSC hit .376 while scoring 45 runs on 47 hits in the four games.

LCSC hits the road for their next 13 games, including a stretch of five games in five days beginning on Wednesday, March 23 against Western Oregon. The game will be played at Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore. with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
