HERMISTON, Ore. – Athletes from the College of Idaho recorded 22 Cascade Conference Championship qualifying marks on the day as the Yotes opened the outdoor track season at the Eastern Oregon Team Challenge inside Kennison Field.

Headlining the meet was the 4x100-meter relay team of Kevin Wang, Tyler Higby, Devin Gaskins and Malik Whitfield, who broke C of I's school record in the event, placing third with a time of 42.55 seconds.
 
Higby would place second in the 100-meters, with his time of 11.03 seconds the second-fastest time by a C of I sprinter in the event in the modern era of Coyote track.
 
The Yotes would earn wins in both middle distance events – as Edmund Ellis was victorious in the 400-meters (50.39) and Dylan Walker earned gold in the 800-meters (1:58.68).  Billy Godfrey claimed a win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:44.56), with the 4x400-meter relay also earning a victory (3:24.14).
 
In the field events, Isaac Gonzalez qualified for the CCC meet in both the long jump (6.40 meters) and triple jump (13.09 meters), with both throwers sewing up spots in all three disciplines, with Andrew Galloway (42.59 meters in the discus; 39.02 meters in the hammer; 12.84 meters in the shot put) and Taylor Oppedyk (38.96 meters in the discus; 40.81 meters in the hammer; 13.51 meters in the shot put) each having a good day.
 
Other qualifiers included Whitfield (100-meters, 200-meters); Max Hampton (1,500-meters); Walker (1,500-meters); Austin Fred (1,500-meters); Quinn Radbourne (1,500-meters); Brooks Ney (110-meter hurdles; 400-meter hurdles); Tyler Amrhein (pole vault); Charlie Shepherd (pole vault); and Tyler Truksa (triple jump).
