FOREST GROVE, Ore. – While sitting in sixth place after six events in the Pacific Combined Events Heptathlon, Corban University freshman Lindsay Asplund (Battle Ground, Wash.) pulled a rabbit out of a hat and won the 800 Meters convincingly, catapulting her all the way up to first place by a mere two points, winning the meet. For Asplund, it was her first-ever time competing in the Heptathlon, so as it stands, she is undefeated in the event.

RESULTS

"It was a great meet for both the men and the women, and Lindsay won the Heptathlon in her first-ever competition, and she had several events that she did not PR in, so the future looks very bright," said Corban head coach Norm Berney. "Lexi and Alli both won individual events, so we were very happy with the performances overall."

Asplund uncorked a winning time of 2:25.22 in that final event (800 Meters), winning by four seconds. The time earned her 754 points and vaulted her into first place with 3617 points, just two points more than the second-place finisher. That point total ranks fourth in program history.

Asplund also showed well in the 200 meters, placing second with a time of 28.54 seconds. In addition, she took fourth in the Long Jump (14' 11.25") and fourth in the 100 Hurdles (17.79 seconds).

Also competing for the Warriors at the meet were fellow freshman Lexi McQueary (Kennewick, Wash.) and senior Alli Ehrhardt (Rogue River, Ore.). McQueary took fourth with a point total of 3449, while Ehrhardt finished in eighth with a total of 3170 points.

McQueary shined in the Shot Put, winning the event with a distance of 30' 8". She also registered a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 200 meters (28.72 seconds) and in the 800 Meters (2:40.11).

Ehrhardt won the High Jump portion of the Heptathlon, clearing a height of 4' 11.75" for Corban. She also showed well in the Long Jump, registering a second-place distance of 15' 6.25".

Corban returns to action this weekend at the Willamette Invite, set to start at 10 a.m.
