Two More Ink LOIs to Play for Northwest U Women 3/22/2016 4:43:36 PM KIRKLAND, Wash. – Two more student-athletes have signed letters of intent to attend Northwest University and play women’s soccer as announced by Gary McIntosh, Director of Athletics for the school. Winter Wirkkala of Granite Falls, Wash., and Hannah Nicholson of Snohomish, Wash., will enroll at NU in the fall. Wirkkala, a 5-3 midfielder, is a transfer from Bellevue College and was a 2-year team captain and starter for the Bulldogs who were co-West Region Champions in 2015. She was named an East-West Region All-Star for the NWAC (Northwest athletic Conference) in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Wirkkala played her prep soccer at Granite Falls High School where she earned four varsity letters in soccer and earned first team all-conference honors in her senior season. Nicholson will graduate from Snohomish High School this spring is a 3-year varsity letter winner. She was named her teams’ most valuable teammate in 2015 and was a Gus Frankhauser Department Scholar. Nicholson is also a member of the National Honor Society and played her select soccer for the Northwest Nationals SC. "I'm excited to announce the signing of two more players," commented McIntosh. “Both Winter and Hannah have tremendous experience of playing at the highest levels and will contribute to the soccer program. We need attacking players and both of them have the potential to score goals and be impact players for us.”
