KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Marian (Ind.) takes home title and No. 1 position in the postseason edition of the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday.
 
Top 25 highlights (historical information dated back to 1991):
• Marian (Ind.) takes over the No. 1 spot in the postseason rankings with all 11 first-place votes and 281 total points.
• The Knights won their first-ever national championship with a 59-48 win against No. 2 Southern Oregon. Marian downed overall No. 1 seed Morningside, 84-65, in the second round in route to the banner.
• No. 2 Southern Oregon ends season 33-2 and totaled 272 total points in the poll.
• The Raiders were the last No. 1 seed left in the tournament.
• Underdog in the national championship, No. 4 Goshen moves up 14 spots in the poll after winning its way to the programs first-ever semifinal appearance. The Maple Leafs lost to Southern Oregon, 84-69.
• In three games played at the national championship, the Maple Leafs beat all higher seeds including, Concordia (Neb.), Saint Xavier (Ill.) and Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.).
• No. 5 Mount Marty sees a significant jump in the poll, moving five spots from No. 12 after a Fab Four appearance at the national championship. The Lancers beat No. 6 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) handedly, 98-76, in the quarterfinals.
• No. 18 Asbury (Ky.) finds its way back into the Top 25 Poll after missing cut since the Preseason Poll on Oct. 27.
• The Eagles move up the rankings after a three point win against No. 13 St. Francis (Ill.), 63-60 in the national championship.
• Hastings (Neb.) falls out of the Top 25 after losing to Tabor (Kan.) in the first round of the national championship, 68-44.
• Three teams cracked 30 wins this season. Southern Oregon and Morningside tie with a NAIA-Best 33 wins each.
• The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference leads all leagues with six teams representing: Olivet Nazarene, No. 7 Saint Xavier, No. 13 St. Francis, No. 14 Cardinal Stritch (Wis.), No. 20 St. Ambrose (Iowa) and No. 22 Purdue Calumet (Ind.).
• No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan (27-8) has the most No. 1 rankings in NAIA history with 34. No. 3 Morningside is second with 27.
• Morningside holds the active streak of being ranked in the Top 25 (123). No. 8 College of the Ozarks (Mo.) streak of 116-straight is second.
• College of the Ozarks (2007-08), Morningside (2008-09) and Saint Francis (Ind.) (1999-00) are the only teams to go the entire season ranked No. 1.

Poll Methodology
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low ratings) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
