WILSONVILLE, Ore. – Kevin Hamann (JR/Bend, Ore.) tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout and the bats came alive late as the Lewis-Clark State College baseball team defeated Corban University 13-0 at Wilsonville High School on Thursday.

The complete game shutout by Hamann is the third all-time against Corban and first since April 19, 2010 when Zach Hull also tossed a 4-hitter in nine innings. The win is the 22nd on the year for LC who moves to 22-2 while Corban falls to 10-14.

Hamann did most of the work in the win, allowing just five baserunners in the contest while striking out four. He did so for five innings without run support, but the offense came to life in the sixth.

LC State tallied all 13 runs in the final four innings, scoring four in the sixth, one in the seventh a pair in the eighth and six in the ninth.

After the LC Warriors stranded a runner in the first, Hamann got in an early jam, working around an error that put runners at second and third with two outs. Only one other runner reached second in the contest and that was on a two-out double in the fifth as the right-hander sat down the final 13 batters he faced.

Cabe Reiten (SR/Spanaway, Wash.), who led the team with four hits, got the rally started in the sixth with a leadoff single. Gunnar Buhner (JR/Issaquah, Wash.) drove him in with a double two batters later and Hayden Meier (JR/Sammamish, Wash.) added a two-out RBI double to make it 2-0. A Chase Hafer (SR/Meridian, Idaho) double plated Meier and Dylan Tashjian (SR/Palm Springs, Calif.) added a pinch-hit RBI single to for the fourth run.

Another two-out RBI double; this time off the bat of Micah Brown (SO/Medord, Ore.), scored Reiten for the lone run in the seventh.

Both eighth inning tallies came with two outs as Jacob Zanon (JR/Beaverton, Ore.) and Robert Smith, Jr. were each hit by a pitch and Reiten doubled them home.

Lewis-Clark State scored their first two runs in the ninth on just one hit as a walk, single, pair of hit by pitches and another walk added to the tally. Smith, Jr. added the cherry to the victory with a two-out grand slam to left field for the final margin.

Reiten paced the offense with a 4-for-5 day, scoring twice and driving in two runs. McDowell and Buhner each added a pair of hits while Smith, Jr. finished 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored.

Hamann improved to 4-1 on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.96 in 41.1 innings.
The Warriors will remain in Wilsonville for the remaining three games of the NAIA West series. First pitch of Friday's doubleheader is schedule for 12 p.m. with Saturday's single contest slated for an 11 a.m. start.
