No. 24 Oregon Tech Sweeps Corban

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.- The 24 ranked Oregon Tech softball team swept a Cascade Conference doubleheader from Corban University Friday afternoon at the OIT Softball Complex, winning game two 4-2 after topping the Warriors in game one 4-0. Tech moves to 17-5 in Conference play and 24-15 on the year with the win. Corban falls to 29-16 overall and 13-9 in CCC action.
 
Game 1 Oregon Tech 4 Corban 0
Oregon Tech put up 11-hits in a 4-0 shut-out win. It’s the first time this season that Corban had been shut-out by any NAIA team. Ann-Marie Guischer improved to 10-5 in the circle for Tech as she allowed only 6-hits over 7-innings with 10 strikeouts.
 
Tech took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the 2nd highlighted by a Sadie Birch double.
 
OIT added 3-unearned in the bottom of the 3rd on 3-hits to make it a 4-0 game.
 
The Warriors stranded 10 runners for the game including leaving the bases loaded in the 7th.
 
Tech was led by Ali Graham who had 3-hits and 2-RBI. Tara Moates added 2-hits for the Owls.
 
Taylor Eilders led the Warriors with 3-hits in the loss.
 
Game 2 Oregon Tech 4 Corban 2  
Corban out-hit OIT 9-5 in game two but the Warriors left 8 more runners on base.
 
Corban took the early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Iris Rodriguez hit her 5th homer of the season.
 
Tech answered with a little small ball as Katie Virtue led off the inning with an infield single, stole second base, and was then bunted over to 3rd by Kenzie Shrum. All American Tara Moates then followed with a high sacrifice fly to left to score Virtue to tie the game at 1-1.
 
Corban took the lead back 2-1 in the top of the fourth, scoring 1-run on 3-hits, highlighted by a Chaleigh Kirkwood RBI double.
 
Tech answered in a big way, scoring 3-runs on 3-hits with Graham coming up with a big 2-RBI double as the Owls took a 4-2 lead.
 
Corban would threaten in each the 5th and 6th innings but the Warriors would strand 4 more runners without a run.
 
In the 7th, Eilders would lead off with her 5th hit of the day for the Corban, she however would get forced-out. The Warriors followed with two pop-outs to end the game.
 
Graham pitched all 7-innings for the Owls picking up the win to improve to 8-7.
 
Allie Mendez was the tough luck loser for Corban giving up only 5-hits as she fell to 10-8.
 
Graham once again led the Owls with 2-hits in the win.
 
Eilders had 2-hits for the Warriors with Maddy Melton also chipping in 2-hits in the loss.
 
OIT will host Northwest Christian University Saturday for a doubleheader at 11:00 am. Saturday will also be Senior Day as Oregon Tech will honor its four seniors in between games. Corban will travel to Ashland to play SOU also at 11:00 am on Saturday.
