KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.- Oregon Tech’s Adam Kandra pitched a complete game shutout as the Owls took game 1, 4-0. With the win, Tech avoids the season sweep as the Yotes had won the first 6-games in the series. College of Idaho won game 2, 7-2 (Non-Conference) Sunday afternoon at Kiger Stadium. With the split OIT improves to 7-20 in the NAIA West and 16-31 on the year. College of Idaho falls to 17-10 in the NAIA West and 30-15 on the year.

Oregon Tech broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the 6
th with 4 consecutive hits to take a 3-0 lead and at the same time run C of I starting pitcher Riley O’Brien from the game. O’Brien had a no-hitter going through the first four innings. Oregon Tech’s starter Adam Kandra was impressive on the bump, going all 9-innings, giving up just 3-hits with 8-strikouts to pick up the 4-0 shutout win and improve to 4-3 on the season.
In the bottom of the 6
th, Tech’s Danny Topps led off the inning with a triple and scored on Kai Fong’s single. Evan Johnson then doubled, moving Fong to third. Fong scored on a wild pitch and Johnson scored on a RBI single by Ryan Grant.
Tech added an insurance run in bottom of the 8
th, Topps singled to start off the inning, he stole second base, and was then bunted over to third on a great Sacrifice by Fong. Topps then scored on a sacrifice fly by Johnson to give Tech the 4-0 lead heading to the ninth.
In the top of the 9
th College of Idaho got a lead of walk by Mitch Skaggs. But Kandra was able to get the next hitter Cole Mansanerez to strike-out. After an infield error put runners on 1
st and 2
nd, Kandra got the next hitter Bobby Wright to fly out to left for the 2
nd out of the game. Tech centerfielder Michael Kilpatrick then made a diving catch to end the game preserving the 4-0 shut-out win for the Owls.
Game 2 (Non- Conference) College of Idaho 7 Oregon Tech 2
College of Idaho scored 5 times in the top of the fourth to break open a scoreless game as the Yotes went on to win 7-2 in the non-conference game. Niall Manning pitched the first 7-innings for C of I allowing only 4-hits with 9-strikeouts to pick up the win and improve to 2-0 on the year. College of Idaho moves to 30-15 on the year with OIT falling to 16-28.
In the 3
rd the Yotes scored 5-runs highlighted by a bases loaded triple by Johnny Hyland.
College of Idaho added two more runs in the sixth inning on 3-hits and a walk to take a 7-0 lead.
Tech scored two runs in the bottom of the 8
th highlighted by back-to-back RBI singles by Fong and Johnson to cut the lead to 7-2. But that would be as close as the Owls would get as neither team would score in the last inning as the Yotes picked up the 7-2 win.
CI out-hit OIT 12-8 in the game with each team committing one error.
Oregon Tech will travel to Corban University next weekend before hosting the University of British Columbia April 30 and May 1
st at Kiger Stadium to wrap up the 2016 season. College of Idaho will travel to UBC next weekend.
