SOU Set to Host 2016 CCC Multi-Event Championships
Ashland Ore. – Teams will compete for some early points today in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships presented by U.S. Bank set to begin at Raider Stadium.
Southern Oregon hosts the event that features 15 heptathlon athletes on the women’s side, and nine athletes in the decathlon for the men. Action starts with the men’s 100-meter dash beginning at 10. a.m., followed by the women’s 100-meter dash.
Decathlon Preview
Oregon Tech looks to take home the Decathlon event after having to athletes finish in second and third place a season ago.
Daniel Brattain who finished in second place totaled 6,152 points in last year’s event while teammate Seth Gretz finished 6,129 points. Gretz has posted the highest score this year out of the athletes competing, earing 6,325 points early this season.
Corban has three total athletes competing this year including Jason Bracken who finished in fourth place last year with a score of 5,650.
Heptathlon Preview
Last year, College of Idaho’s Tiana Thomas finished 61 points shy of a school record as she claimed first place with a point total of 4,517. She will look to repeat this year and earn C of I’s fourth straight heptathlon title.
Corban will look to end the Yotes winning streak in this event as they have three athletes who have posted the highest point total in the CCC during this outdoor season. Lindsay Asplund has totaled a high of 3,617 points while teammates Lexi McQueary and Ali Ehrhardt have tallied 3,449 and 3,170 points respectively.
C of I will have four athletes competing while Corban and Warner Pacific will have three athletes.
