No. 19 Owls Take Two From Eagles 4/22/2016 6:52:03 PM KIRKLAND, Wash. – No. 19 ranked Oregon Tech used three home runs to score an 11-1, 5 inning win in game one and used timely hitting and pitching for a 5-0 shutout in the second game to sweep Northwest University today at Everest Park. Game 1 – Oregon Tech 11, Northwest U 1 (5 innings) The Owls got started early as they put 7 runs across the plate aided by a 3-run home run by Sydni Scott along with 5 hits to take a 7-0 lead. A 3-run home run by Cassidy Hoglund put the Owls up 10-0 after the first two innings. The final OIT home run came in the 4th inning when Ali Graham hit a solo shot over the left center field fence. Northwest U managed one run in the 4th inning when Ricki Tacdol came up with a two out single to right field scoring Savannah Rush who had doubled earlier. That would be all NU would be able to muster offensively as Tech pitcher, Anne-Marie Guischer would limit the Eagles to just three hits in four innings while striking out five. Senior Ricki Tacdol led Northwest U going 2 for 2 with a RBI. Savannah Rush scored once and was 1 for 2 for the game. Kelli Peckham took the loss pitching for the Eagles striking out five OIT batters. Oregon Tech was led by Cassidy Hoglund who was 2 for 3, scored 2 runs and had 4 RBI’s for the Owls. Ali Graham was a perfect 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and scored twice. Sydni Scott was 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs. Guischer earned the win walking just one. Game 2 – OIT 5, NU 0 After a 0-0 scoreless tie after three innings, OIT used timely hitting to score two runs in the 4th and three runs in the 5th inning for the 5-0 shutout victory over Northwest U. Oregon Tech pitcher Ali Graham scattered four NU hits while not issuing a walk in 7 innings. Singles by Ali Graham and Tre Sullivan in the 4th inning set the stage for a double by Cassidy Hoglund driving in a run. The Owls got another run on an Eagle error to lead 2-0 after four innings. Back-to-back singles to begin the 5th inning put two OIT runners on and Tara Moates came up with a double down the right field line driving in two runs for a 4-0 lead. One more run would score on another NU error putting the No. 19 Owls up 5-0. Northwest U would be unable to score as Graham would limit the NU batters to three hits and allow only three base runners. Northwest U 11-27, 6-20 CCC) was led by Darian Godfrey and Courtney Heard who both went 1 for 2 from the plate. Hannah Yelas went the distance for the Eagles giving up the 5 runs on 8 hits. She struck out three and did not issue a base on balls. Tara Moates led the way for Oregon Tech (27-16, 20-6 CCC) going 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs while teammate Cassidy Hoglund was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Tre Sullivan was 2 for 3 and scored a run. For Graham, a complete game in the circle giving up only four hits and striking out two while her defense played error-free for 7 innings. Northwest U plays their final regular season home games tomorrow hosting Southern Oregon in a doubleheader while OIT travels to Vancouver, B.C., to play the University of British Columbia.
