KIRKLAND, Wash. – No. 22 Southern Oregon took two conference games from Northwest University in an extra inning, 4-2 win in the first game and a six inning, 11-2, contest in game two to end the regular season for both teams. It was senior day for Northwest U as they bid farewell to five graduating seniors.

Game 1 – Southern Oregon 4, Northwest U 2 (8 innings)

The Raiders came through with clutch hitting and solid base running in the 8th inning to take a 4-2 victory over Northwest U in game one of their doubleheader.

After going scoreless for three innings, both teams came up with two runs in the 4th inning to knot the score at 2-2. Neither team would be able to score in the next three innings until the first extra-inning when Southern Oregon would get the game winner.

Kayleen Smith led off the inning with a single and then stole second. Aaliyah Oliver hit an infield single moving Smith to third base. Oliver then quickly stole second and Smith then scored on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Burke. Megan Winton then singled to center field driving in Oliver to put SOU up 4-2. That would be all they would need as SOU pitcher Sydney White would put down the Eagles 1,2,3, in the bottom of the 8th to earn the win.

Senior Ricki Tacdol went 2 for 3 for Northwest U while Danielle Bonksy was 1 for 4 with one RBI. Kelli Peckham pitched 8 strong innings for the Eagles giving up the four runs on nine hits. A frustrating game for NU as they stranded 11 runners on base.

Junior Allie Anderegg hit a 2 out solo home run to center field in the first inning to put the Eagles up 1-0. In the second inning Courtney Heard infield single scored Danielle Bonksy to make it a 2-0 game.

SOU would then have a big inning in the top of the 3rd when they would put 4 runs across home plate aided by two costly errors by Northwest U. Abigail Lund singled to open the inning and then moved to 2nd base on an Eagle error. With Lund on third and Aaliyah Oliver on second, Alexa Gonzalez would come up with a 2-run single down the left field line. Kayleen Smith then doubled down the left field line scoring Lund.
