Corban hired Michelle Skyles as the new head women's basketball coach on Friday, April 8th.
SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Director of Athletics Greg Eide announced on Friday morning that Michelle Skyles has been hired as the new head women's basketball coach at Corban, effective immediately. Skyles joins the Warriors after an accomplished coaching career at a number of different levels.
"I am pleased to announce Michelle Skyles as our new women's basketball head coach," said Eide. "It became evident to the search committee that Michelle's availability at the time we had an opening was a real blessing. Michelle has had tremendous success at both the high school and NCAA Division II collegiate levels, is an outstanding recruiter, and builds deep and lasting relationships with her players. We look forward to her outstanding mentorship impacting our student-athletes on and off the court."
Skyles most recently was the top assistant coach at Seattle Pacific University where she coached for eight years, helping lead the Falcons to the NCAA Division II National Tournament in nearly every year she was on staff. During that time, she led the Falcons to a 179-55 overall record.
"I am so honored and blessed to be selected by Dr. Nord, Greg Eide, and the committee, to drive the Corban University women's basketball program they so strongly support," said Skyles. "Their belief in me was what convinced me to seize the opportunity. I will give all I have to build on the success of this program to bring it to an even higher level of achievement for the team members and the school."
Prior to coaching at SPU, she spent one season at Eastern Washington University following a successful run of years at the high school level. At Jerome High School, she led her team to the Idaho 4A Championship and a perfect record of 25-0 in 2004. In her 10 seasons at the helm of Jerome, Skyles compiled a record of 190-61, qualifying for eight state tournaments while advancing to the championship game four times.
Skyles earned her degree from Northwest Nazarene University in Physical Education, competing in basketball, track, and soccer at NNU. She also set the career three-point shooting percentage on the basketball team.
