LCSC’s Robinson Voted Player of the Year; All-NAIA West Group Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore. – After a voting by the NAIA West Baseball Grouping head coaches, Lewis-Clark State’s J.J. Robinson has been named the 2016 NAIA West Player of the Year.
Robinson, a junior from Colfax, Wash., started all 54 games for the Warriors, finishing with a batting average of .360. He tallied 71 hits on the year including 25 doubles and a team high 14 home runs to go along with a conference high 78 RBIs.
British Columbia’s Alex Webb was awarded the NAIA West Pitcher of the Year accolade after finishing the year with a record of 9-1 in 14 appearances. Webb had the fourth lowest ERA in the grouping at 1.36 while leading in strikeouts with 111. His nine wins also tie for a season high in the West Grouping.
Lewis-Clark State earned one more postseason award as head coach Jeremiah Robbins was named the Coach of the Year. Robbins led his squad to a 48-7 overall record, going 30-5 in NAIA West play, and the NAIA West Tournament Championship for the second year in a row.
