POOLER, Ga. – The Corban University women's golf team battled through the most challenging conditions they've had to play in all year long on Tuesday and Wednesday, and finally after 10 hours of golf, two inches of rain, and multiple lightning delays, the Warriors sit in 21st of 27 teams at the 2016 NAIA Women's Golf Championships after Round One.

RESULTS

"The ladies battled through two inches of rain and three lightning delays," said Corban head coach Tom Graves. "It took 10 hours to complete 18 holes. While not our best team score, they battled hard and are optimistic about moving up the leaderboard tomorrow!"

Rookie Casey Jansen (Waddell, Ariz.) led the way for the Warrior women, finishing round one tied for 38th overall individually with a score of 79. Jansen had a strong finish to the day, registering birdies on two of the final seven holes en route to the solid score. For Jansen, it ties her second-best round of her young career.

Corban's second-best golfer was freshman Hannah Clarizio (Molalla, Ore.), as she signed her scorecard with an 81, recording one birdie on the back nine. She currently sits tied for 60th overall amongst the field as an individual.

After a rough start to the round, Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament Champion, freshman Jenna Jensen (Kalispell, Mont.), finished strong and scored an 83 to come in as Corban's third-best golfer, while junior Carrie Wallace (La Grande, Ore.) closed out the day with an 88 as the fourth scorer.

Rounding out Corban's golfers was freshman Faith Udy (Woodland, Wash.), as she tallied an 18-hole total of 90.

Because of the severe delays over the course of the last two days, the NAIA Championships has now become a 54-hole event (three rounds), meaning that there will be no cut. Corban tees off on Thursday in round two at 10:20 a.m. PST, and is paired with Rocky Mountain College and William Penn. University.

Live stats and live video will both once again be available on Thursday.
