LA GRANDE, Ore. – Corban University's Danny Day has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Sports Information Director of the Year, the league office announced.
 
The annual award is voted on by the sports information directors of the CCC, recognizing outstanding work in promotion, work with CCC and NAIA championships events, publicity and marketing efforts.
 
"Congratulations to Danny Day on his selection as the Cascade Conference Sports Information Director of the Year," stated Commissioner Rob Cashell. "The recognition by his peers represents the high regard Danny is held in around the league for his innovative approach to the dynamic and ever-changing world of Sports Information."
 
Day finished up his second year with Corban, in which he generated approximately 800,000 views on CorbanWarriors.com and created and published 221 videos (highlights, features, promos, interviews) with over 53,000 views and more than 95,000 minutes of "watch time” in the last year alone.
 
“I am humbled and honored to receive this award,” said Day. “I can’t thank Greg Eide enough for believing in me two years ago when he gave me the opportunity to work at Corban, and for continuing to support me with the resources necessary to stay on the cutting edge of my profession. These last two years have been two of the most fun years of my life! A big thanks also has to go to our 2015-16 graduate assistant, Peter Martin, as he consistently provided top-level work in our office during this last year.”
 
Day also served at a number of different postseason events, hosting the CCC Cross Country Championships while broadcasting the races and creating a highlight video following the event. He also coordinated the live video broadcast of the men’s and women’s soccer conference championships and was the photographer/videographer for the CCC golf championships.
 
Day was also responsible for hosting an NAIA Opening Round match for men’ soccer.
 
"I couldn't be happier for Danny to receive this well-deserved recognition from his peers in the CCC,” said Corban Athletic Director Greg Eide. “Danny has pursued the excellence we strive for at Corban since his first day on the job, and the coverage he provides our teams and athletes is second to none, at any level of classification. Every day he comes up with new ideas and strategies to enhance exposure and reporting of the happenings in Warrior athletics, and I'm grateful that he is a member of our team."
 
Social media efforts greatly increased under Day’s supervision, generating 600 new followers on Instagram, 300 followers on Twitter and 700 new page likes on Facebook. Day also created Corban’s Snapchat account which generated 300 followers in its first year and served as a Webinar Presenter to CoSIDA about Snapchat.
 
Among other accomplishments this year, Day coordinated the 2015-16 Publicty Video Contest for NAIA-SIDA Publication Awards, served as play-by-play broadcaster for Corban soccer and baseball, published Corban’s Top 10 Plays of the Month every month and wrote a feature story on Corban Baseball’s groundbreaking trip to Cuba in June of 2015, which including a documentary video on the trip, that was picked up by multiple national news outlets.
 
Day will go on to represent the CCC as the league nominee for the national SID of the Year Award.
