SILVIS, Ill. – The Oregon Tech Men's Golf Team fired a 1 under 283 led by Tyler Swinton’s (Pictured) four under 67 which is now low round of the tournament, as the Owls jumped all the way up to 4th position heading into tomorrow’s final round at the 2016 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship which is being held at TPC Deere Run.

Oregon Tech’s 283 tied tournament Leader University of British Columbia for low round. The Owls are now 13 shots behind UBC and just one shot behind former leader William Woods. The top 17 schools after today’s round will move on to Friday’s final round along with the top 40 individuals.

“The key to our round was that we all pared the difficult par 4, 465 yard 18th hole today,” said Head Coach Jeff Corkill. “That hole has played at an average of just under 5 for the tournament. We are right where we want to be headed into tomorrow’s final round. I am very pleased with the way we are playing.”

As a team the Owls were 2 over par after the front nine. Swinton caught fire to start the back nine hitting four straight birdies and finished the final 5 holes at even par to finish with the tournaments best round of a 4 under 67 to help catapult Oregon Tech into 4th place.

Oregon Tech returns to action for Friday’s Final Round, May 27th at 8:00 am (CDT) In Tech’s group will be Wayland Baptist and Johnson & Wales (Fla.)
