SILVIS, Ill. – The record setting season for the Oregon Tech Men's Golf Team has come to a conclusion as the Owls finished the 2016 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship in seventh place at TPC Deere Run.

In only its third year of existence, the Owls have set the bar high for all future Hustlin’ Owl teams by winning the school’s first Cascade Conference Championship, being ranked nationally, appearing in its first ever NAIA Golf National Championship and finishing 7th in the country.

Oregon Tech struggled in today’s final round firing off a 313 total slipping from fourth to seventh place. Montana Frame had the Owls lowest round with a 5 over 76 as he finished tied for 28th overall. Houston Knox had a final round of 7 over par to finish with a round of 78, he finished the tournament in a tie for 46th. David Murphy was two strokes behind Knox with a 9 over 80 today to finish in a tie for 49th. Tyler Swinton finished with an 8 over par 79 to finish tied for 55th place. Josh Whitley rounded out the OIT scoring as he had a final round 84 and ended in a tie for 83rd out of 156 elite NAIA golfers.

“We end the season at the NAIA Championships with arguably not our best golf in today final round, said Head Coach Jeff Corkill. “We did get a taste of being in the hunt after our third round efforts yesterday. Our team goal was to make it to the tournament. Next make the cut, followed by a top ten finish and earn some respect around the nation. I think we checked all of the boxes!”

For the third time in five years and the 10th time overall, the Stars of Oklahoma City are crowned National Champions. The Stars overcame a seven stroke deficit to defeat runner-up British Columbia by eight shots
