Reiten named CoSIDA Academic All-District

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College baseball player Cabe Reiten has been recognized as one of the nation’s top student-athletes for his combined performance on the field and in the classroom. He has been named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Spanaway, Calif. native has maintained a 3.57 grade point average in Justice Studies while also being a key contributor to the Warriors on the field.
A senior shortstop for Head Coach Jeremiah Robbins and the LCSC baseball team, Reiten helped LC State to a 45-7 record this season, batting .292 and starting all 44 games in which he has played. He’s scored 43 runs and driven in 27 with 49 hits, 12 doubles and four home runs. He’s also walked 29 times and been hit 13 times, both second on the team.
The Warriors also finished the season 30-5 in the NAIA West and are the top seed in the NAIA West Grouping Tournament that begins on Friday in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada hosted by UBC. The Warriors will face the winner of Corban and Marymount on Friday, May 6 at 4 p.m.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), reached sophomore academic status, have attended LCSC for at least one calendar year and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games or pitched 10 innings.
As a member of the CoSIDA District 4 Academic All-District Team, Reiten is eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America Team recognition which will be released on May 31.
