Oregon Tech and Corban Named Favorites for the 2016 Golf Season
LA GRANDE, Ore. – After impressive performances last year, Oregon Tech was named the favorite for the upcoming men’s golf season while Corban was selected to win the women’s title according to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Golf Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the conference office announced.
Oregon Tech is coming off a conference title in the 2015-16 season, earning four first-place votes to total 43 points in the poll.
Northwest Christian received two first-place votes to tie with Corban at second in poll with 34 points while College of Idaho claimed 28 points for fourth place.
Finishing off the poll was Warner Pacific (23) in fifth, Walla Walla (19) in sixth with one first-place vote and Multnomah (7) in seventh.
On the women’s side, Corban also received four first-place votes after coming off a championship a season ago. The Warriors tallied 34 points in poll while Oregon Tech (28) and College of Idaho (26) each received a first-place vote to come in at second and third respectively.
Warner Pacific earned 17 points for fourth place followed by Walla Walla (15) and Multnomah (6) to end the poll.
The 2016-17 CCC Golf Championships are slated for April 17-19 as Northwest Christian is set to host in Eugene, Ore.
