Lady Owls Drop Season Opener 3-1 to Raiders
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.- The Southern Oregon women’s soccer team scored three first half goals on the way to a 3-1 non-conference win over host Oregon Tech in the season opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Steen Sports Park.
Kelsey Randall scored the season’s first goal for the Raiders as she dribbled to the top of the box and scored in the 9th minute in the lower left of the goal.
Megan McArthur made it 2-0 SOU, taking a pass from Lauren Aldana, scoring in the 18th minute.
The Raiders made it 3-0 right before the half as Aislinn Waite scored from 12 feet out in the 43rd minute. The Raiders were in control from the start, building a 9-1 shots advantage in the first half on the way to a 15-7 edge for the game. Nine of those were put on goal.
Tech came out with much more intensity in the second half scoring in the 66
th minute as Salina Blue headed in a corner kick from Jodie Reoch to make it a 3-1 game.
The teams played a very even second half with Tech scoring the only goal. Each team had six shots on frame in the second-half.
Tech will next head to Eugene for an exhibition match against Lane Community College on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. The Raiders are now unbeaten in their last six openers. They'll be off for two weeks until they host UC Merced at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7 in Ashland.
