Hustlin’ Owls Dominate Red Hawks in Season Opener

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.-  Oregon Tech scored a pair of goals in each half on the way to a non-league season opening 4-0 win over Simpson University Tuesday afternoon at Steen Sports Park.
 
Trinidad Flores and Lodewijk Bloemzaad each scored a goal in the first half and Brennan Gazdik scored twice in the second half to lead Oregon Tech as the Owls beat Simpson for the third year in row to open up the season.
 
Oregon Tech controlled the ball and the flow of the game holding a huge 34-4 advantage in shots and a 16-0 edge in shots on frame for the game.
 
Flores took a nice pass across the top of the box from Daniel Blessinger to give the home team an early 1-0 lead in the 9th minute.
 
Bloemzaad took a loose ball, dribbles down the side line, and scored from just inside the box in the 43rd minute.
 
Gazdik scored on a falling down over the head kick (Pictured by Kelly Caleb) off a corner kick from GeRsand Cabanilla in the 49th minute giving Tech a 3-0 lead.
 
Gazdik finish off the Owls scoring as he headed in a great cross from Garrett Byrd in the 54th minute.
 
The Owls will tentatively open up their new field on the Oregon Tech campus this Saturday as they host Humboldt State in an Exhibition game scheduled for 1:00 pm.
