BUTTE, Mont. – Junior outside hitter Amanda Miller attacked for a match-high 16 kills, and the No. 8 EOU volleyball team opened The Big Sky Challenge with a three-set (25-17, 25-23, 25-22) triumph over Carroll on Friday afternoon.
The Mountaineers (4-1) notched their fourth-straight victory and third-straight sweep of the season, while the Saints dropped to 4-2 on the year.
Miller yielded only four errors on 30 attempts for a .400 clip, while senior hitter Makayla Lindburg added six kills. Both junior Madisen Garlie and senior Kasaundra Tuma chipped in five kills apiece, and Tuma also paced EOU”s blocking efforts with four denials (one solo).
Carding her 24th-career double-double, senior setter Rachelle Chamberlain posted 16 assists and 11 digs. In the back row, junior libero Malia Mills added 15 digs.
As a team, EOU outhit the Saints (4-2), .143-.059, as the Blue and Gold swung for 40 kills on 105 attempts.
