SANTA CLARITA, Calif.- The Oregon Tech volleyball team again split its two matches on Saturday on the final day of the Master’s Tournament. The Owls knocked off Hope International University 3-2 in the first match of the day and then fell to the host school, The Master’s College, 3-0 as Oregon Tech moves to 3-2 on the year.

Owls’ Head Coach Andrew Clifton said, “Today we played two very good teams and I am pleased with our overall performance and fight for the day. We had a couple of ups and downs, but proved that we will never give up. Kelsey Sampson had consistent play and showed why she is an all-conference player. I am very happy with our growth and I am looking forward to playing William Jessup on Monday."

In the first match against Hope International the Owls came out on fire, winning the first 2 sets 25-12 and 25-19. But HIU rebounded with back to back wins 25-22 and 25-14 to force a first to 15 5th and final set. Bella Foss served Tech to a 5-0 lead in the final set and they never looked back, winning 15-7 to capture the 5 set hard fought victory.

Kelsey Sampson led the way for the Owls with 14 kills followed by Bailey Nelson who added 11 kills.

Waverly Green continued her strong play in the middle with 32 assists for the Owls.

OIT didn’t have much time to rest, as they quickly turned around and took on the host school, a well rested The Master’s College less than two hours later.

Tech battled but fell 25-19 and 26-24 in the first two sets before losing the third set and match 25-17.

The Lady Owls will play one more game in California on Monday at William Jessup in Rocklin at 3:00 pm before heading home for an inner squad Blue vs Gold scrimmage Wednesday at 10:00 am. The Owls will then kick off Cascade Conference play next Friday and Saturday at Northwest Christian and Corban respectively.
