PORTLAND, Ore. – A pair of newcomers netted their first-career goals in a Blue and Gold uniform, and the EOU women’s soccer team bounced back with a 3-1 triumph at Lewis & Clark on Sunday afternoon.

A two-goal outburst early in the first stanza ultimately changed the complexion of the game, as juniors Anna Roslander and Mariana Madrigal found the back of the net in the 13th and 17th minutes, respectively.

Roslander struck from 18 feet out off a pass from junior Yasmin Mookerdum to give EOU a 1-0 advantage. Moments later, Mookerdum tallied her second assist of the match, as freshman forward Nan Kiebert made a strong cross to Mookerdum who flicked to Madrigal for the score.

For the second-straight contest, the Mountaineers (1-1) allowed a goal late in the first half, as the Pioneers posted a goal in the 45th minute to cut EOU’s lead to one (2-1).

EOU tacked on an insurance goal in 78th minute of the second half, when senior defensive midfielder Katherine Hood netted a 25-footer off a pass from Kiebert.

The Blue and Gold outshot Lewis & Clark in the second frame, 8-6, while the Pioneers owned a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

In the box, a pair of freshmen in Sonia Nichols and Cydni Cottrell saw action against the Pioneers, while senior Jessica Parker anchored the load with three saves in the second half.

1 – Goal apiece for Roslander, Madrigal, and Hood.
