No. 9 Annie Shellerud scored a goal and added two assists Northwest U Wins Big over Red Hawks 8/27/2016 11:36:59 PM REDDING, Calif. – The Northwest University women took advantage of a shorthanded Simpson team today and posted a 6-0 shutout victory to go 2-0 on their California road trip. Simpson suited up just 8 players due to injuries suffered in a previous game. The Eagles took early advantage of the numbers and Jubilee Zevenbergen put the Eagles on top 1-0 with her goal at the 11:14 mark, scoring off an assist from Madison Nortune. Sophomore midfielder, Annie Shellerud scored her first goal of the season in the 34th minute finishing a pass from Danika Schofield. Senior Tiffany Taylor gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead with her unassisted goal at 39:15. Just 1:48 into the second half, Jessie Nicholl increased the NU lead as she found herself on the scoring end of an assist from Annie Shellerud. Sophomore Makenna Wheeler made it a 5-0 score at the 63:04 mark putting her ball past the SU goalkeeper unassisted. Sophomore Whitney Weaver scored the final goal for the Eagles in the 70th minute off the second assist of the day by Annie Shellerud. Northwest U (2-0-0) managed 48 shots, 24 in each half, while limiting Simpson to just one shot in 90 minutes. Lauren Hellum and Kat Sanchez combined for the shutout with each spending 45 minutes in goal for the Eagles. Hellum made the lone save of the day. Tiffany Taylor led the team with 8 shots including 4 shots on goal and scoring once. Hannah Nicholson had 6 shots, 4 shots on goal. Amy Martin, Simpson (0-2-0) goalkeeper, had a solid day in goal making 19 saves. Brock Gaddy had the only shot for the Red Hawks which was a shot on goal. The Eagles return to Kirkland to begin classes and will then travel to Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., for a 4:30 pm contest on September 3.
