Rocky Mountain Selected as Favorite for the 2016 Season
LA GRANDE, Ore. – After claiming the regular season and postseason tournament titles a season ago, Rocky Mountain has been picked as the favorites for the 2016 campaign in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Preseason Poll.
Rocky Mountain earned 186 points in the poll with eight first-place votes after finishing with an overall record of 17-3-4 last year, going 11-1-1 in conference play.
Corban came in second in poll with 181 points including four first-place votes. The Warriors ended the 2015 season going 17-3-4 overall, 11-2 CCC.
Rounding out the top five in the poll are Great Falls (153 points) in third, followed by Carroll (150) and Evergreen (124), who both tallied one first-place vote.
Earning the sixth spot is Northwest (116) followed by College of Idaho (108) in seventh. Entering their second seasons in program history, Southern Oregon (106) and Eastern Oregon (101) landed at eighth and ninth respectively.
Finishing off the poll are Warner Pacific (82), Oregon Tech (54), Northwest Christian (49), Multnomah (26) and Walla Walla (21).
The CCC postseason tournament continues the eight team single-elimination format that includes the top finishers in the regular season standings. The first weekend of Cascade Conference play begins on Friday, September 16.
