KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Bailey Nelson had 14 kills to lead the Owls to their first Cascade Conference win of the year with a 3-0 sweep of Evergreen State 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 at Danny Miles Court Saturday night.
The Owls improve to 1-3 in CCC play and 5-5 overall. The Geoducks slips 2-8 overall and 1-3 in CCC play.
Head Coach Andrew Clifton on his team’s efforts, “"Even though we split this weekend I am very happy with our progress. Tonight we played solid and stayed the course. We will get in the gym at practice this week and continue to improve."
Tech hit .333 percent in the first set cruising to the 25-17 win behind a balanced attack with four Owls, Kelsey Sampson, Whitney Webster, Mykala Rubey and Nelson, accumulating 3 kills each.
It was more of the same for Tech in set 2 as the Owls won 25-20.
Nelson picked up 7 kills in set 3 to pace Tech to the 25-16 win.
After Nelson’s 14 kills, Rubey added 9, with Sampson adding 8.
Waverly Green once again held down the middle with 36 set assists for OIT.
Evergreen State was led by Natalie Taylor's 9 kills.
Tech will hit the road next weekend in Portland, Oregon with matches against Warner Pacific College and Multnomah University Friday and Saturday respectively.
