Wolves Golf Team’s First Tournament of the Season is in the Book’s

College Place, Wash. -Today wrapped up the first tournament of the season for the Wolves golf team's. It was the start of a new season for the men and the beginning of an era for the women. Both teams sent four players to represent each team, which meant all scores where used toward the team scores. The men finished in 10
th place out of 11 teams, but there were some very bright spots for the Wolves. The women finished in fifth place out of five teams, and have establish a starting place for the team.
On the men's side, Chase Yoshida lead the way for Walla Walla. In tough playing conditions on Monday, Chase shot a 77 in the morning round. He would go on to take strokes off each of his next two rounds, recording a 74 on Monday afternoon and a 73 on Tuesday. Chase finished tied for 8
th out of the field of 71 total players. Jordan Collins, Cole Henderson and Jonathan Lehman all finished in the lower half of the scoring for the tournament, but all saw at least one round of improvement. Jordan was able to take four strokes off of his score from the first round to the second, Cole took off one stroke between the second and third round. Jonathan saw his score drop every round, going from a 90 in the opening round to an 82 in the third.
Coach Kearbey was really excited about the guy's performance. "We had an incredible experience playing at Running Y. The men finished strong shaving nine strokes from their second round total," Said Coach Kearbey. "(We) started strong with three of four men getting birdies on their first hole." Coach specifically talked about how well he felt the team represented as a whole. "I could not be happier with this group of young men who flawlessly represented our school on and off the course."

While the Women's team had their struggles, there was still bright spots in the tournament. Jaqueline Allison had the best individual score for the Wolves, finishing with a 99 after the first round. She would place 26 in the field of 33 for the tournament. Three of the wolves four players were entering their first rounds of competitive golf this weekend, and while it showed in the scores there was improvement. Lindsey Shearer took 11 strokes off her first round score, and finished just above Kaitlyn Whitley in placement, who added only a single stroke to her total between the rounds. Kaylene Lopez had her struggles on the day, but Coach Kearbey noted her mental toughness throughout the tournament.
"The Lady Wolves overcame nerves and a tough course as all four ladies played their first rounds of collegiate golf," comment Coach Kearbey. "Jaci (Jaqueline) recorded her first birdie in college competition on a tough 10
th hole played as a par 5." Coach Kearbey talked about the experience overall for the women. "Many knew our Lady Wolves were new to competition and onlookers commented on how upbeat they had stayed throughout their rounds… Wolves beautifully represented Walla Walla University. They are excited about next week's tournament at Salishan Golf Course (hosted by Corban University) and are eager to get back to practice tomorrow."
