Northwest Christian University Women’s Cross Country Named Team of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. – With an impressive showing against some of the best NCAA Div. 1 competition the Northwest Christian University’s women’s cross country team has been named the “Team of the Week” for September 12-18, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The NAIA No. 1 ranked team made the most out of their day at the prestigious Bill Dellinger Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon at the Springfield Golf Club. The Beacons finished second with 51 points behind host and No. 3 in the nation Oregon. The ducks tallied 39 points.
NCU’s Sierra Brown and Shea Vallaire finished 2
nd and 3
rd overall and broke the tape before any of the UO runners crossed the finish line. Brown completed the 5k race in 17:28, the fourth-fastest time in NCU history and Vallaire sliced 30 seconds off of her personal best with a time of 17:31. NCU defeated four NCAA Div. 1 programs including UC Davis, Oregon State, North Dakota State and University of Portland.

The reigning NAIA champions will take a week off before returning action at the Charles Bowles Invitational on October 1.
