Oregon Tech Women’s Golf Claims Victory at Coastal Collegiate Classic

GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – With two of the top-three golfers, the Oregon Tech women’s golf team ran away with the Coastal Collegiate Classic on Monday and Tuesday at the Salishan Spa and Golf Resort, winning by 23 strokes over second-place University of Victoria (B.C.).

Heidi Froelich garnered medalist honors with a two-round score of 155 (81, 74) for Oregon Tech, while Janelle Ferlan finished in third overall for the Lady Owls with a tournament total of 159 (81, 78). College of Idaho’s Natalie Mullins finished as the No. 2 individual for the tournament overall.

Oregon Tech’s team score of 642 (324, 318) was impressive, as it beat out Victoria by 23 strokes and defending Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) regular season and tournament champion, Corban University, by 37 strokes.

The CCC regular-season champ is determined by total number of strokes over the course of the 2016-17 CCC campaign.

For Victoria, Laura Ferreira finished as the top female with a score of 162 (78, 84), while for Corban, it was Casey Jansen who notched a tournament total of 162 as well with an 84 and 78. The two tied for fourth overall.

All CCC teams return to action next week at the Warner Pacific Fall Shootout. Competition will take place September 26-27 at the Glendoveer GC.
