LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Oregon Tech Men’s Soccer team has been named the “Team of the Week” for September 19-25, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

The Owls (7-1-1, 4-0 CCC) continued their best start in school history with wins over CCC opponents Northwest Christian (4-0) and No. 11 Corban University (2-1).  The goal given up to Corban was the first in four matches against the stingy Tech defense, a defense that has allowed just four total scores in their nine contests.

The weekend began on Friday with OIT’s winning their third straight, a 4-0 decision over the visiting Beacons of Northwest Christian University (5-3, 1-2 CCC). Brennan Gazdik led the offense with two goals, numbers four and five on the season for Gazdik.  The other tallies came from Daniel Blessinger and Austin Schoenmann.  The shutout went to the Owls’ Dino Rozac who ran his record to 6-0-1, including his fourth shutout of the season.

The next day, Oregon Tech picked up a huge 2-1 victory over 11th-ranked Corban University.  The loss was the first for the Warriors in 2016 against eight wins. After goals by OIT’s Lodewijk Bloemzaad (16’) and Corban’s Rolando Velazquez (69’), the Owl’s Leonardo Alonzo tucked away the game winner into the upper right corner in the 80th minute to seal the victory.  Rozac picked up his seventh win of the season while facing 10 Warrior shots while converting three saves and just the lone goal.

Oregon Tech will look to keep their winning ways as they travel to La Grande to face the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon on Friday at 1 p.m. and then face Warner Pacific the following evening.  Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. in Portland.
