Daniel Christenson goes high over teammate Mikias Repsold for a save

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University scored two goals in the first half and three in the second for a 5-0 shutout victory over Walla Walla University this afternoon under sunny and warm skies in Kirkland.
Kieren Raney gave NU a 1-0 lead at 7:47 when he scored from 18 yards out on the right side and into the top of the net. Two passes, one from Luis Rangel to teammate Jake Morse who got it to Raney for the goal. Elijah Gordon put the Eagles up 2-0 in the 35th minute when he put his free kick in from 20 yards out on the left side over the outstretched hands of the Walla Walla goalkeeper for the score.
Kyle Zimmerman (53:34), Obi Esonu (56:27) and Chris Iacolucci (74:49) all scored for Northwest U in the second half to put the game away as the Eagles would improve to 3-1 in Cascade Conference play.
Daniel Christenson earned the shutout for Northwest U (7-2, 3-1 CCC), his 17th career shutout, making three saves for the game. Kyle Zimmerman had 8 of NU’s 35 shots as the Eagles took 21 shots on goal.
Josh Fry made 16 saves in goal for Walla Walla (0-5, 0-5 CCC) as the Wolves were limited to just four shots for the day, three shots on goal.
Said NU coach, Gary McIntosh after the game, “I was pleased with the result today and it was nice to see several different players score. The shutout was Daniel’s (Christenson) 17th of his career and he set the new NU record for total career shutouts. Daniel is a great player and he leads by example. I’m very proud of this accomplishment for him.”
Northwest U remains at home on Saturday and will host Multnomah University at 3 p.m. on the NU Athletic Field.
