Upset Minded Owls Fall to No. 6 Eastern Oregon
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The top team in the Cascade Conference and the number six team in the NAIA had to battle, but found a way to get past upset minded OIT Friday night at Danny Miles Court. With the win, Eastern Oregon improved to 9-0 in CCC play and 16-1 on the season cruising past Oregon Tech (3-6 CCC, 7-8) in straight sets 25-21, 25-17, 25-22
In the first set, OIT took an early 5-3 lead and the two teams battled with EOU taking a 14-10 lead after running off four straight points. Tech trimmed the lead to 16-17 but EOU showed why are one of the best teams in the country running of 6 of 8 points and 3 of the final 5 points to win 25-21.
Set 2, was tied 10-10 before the Mountaineers’ won 11 of the next 13 points to go up 21-13 before winning the set 25-17.
In the third set, Tech got off to a good start leading 3-1 but EOU went on a 16-7 run to take a 17-10 lead. Tech once again battled back at 21-22 before Easten finished the game 3-1 run to win 25-22.
Kelsey Sampson led the Owls attack with 12 kills with Bailey Nelson adding 9 kills in the loss.
EOU was led by Amanda Miller with 17 kills and former Owl Madison Garlie with 10 kills.
Oregon Tech will play host to College of Idaho Saturday night at 5:00 pm at Danny Miles Court with Eastern Oregon traveling over to Southern Oregon Saturday in Ashland?.
