LA GRANDE, Ore – After a one-nil victory last week in Great Falls, the EOU women’s soccer team looked to remain undefeated at home against Oregon Tech on Friday afternoon at the EOU Soccer Field.
The Mountaineers did just that, dominating on all sides of the ball in a 4-0 triumph over the Owls (2-7-2, 0-2-1 CCC).
Defensively, EOU (7-2-2, 4-0-1 CCC) continued its record-breaking shutout streak, extending the mark to six in a row. Senior keeper Jessica Parker had EOU’s only needed save of the match, while sophomore defender Chelsey Nicol and the rest of the Blue and Gold defense helped preserve the streak.
EOU controlled the match offensively, outshooting the Owls, 21-7, including an 8-1 margin on goal. Nicol led the way for the Mountaineers with four shots, one of which was on goal.
The first tally for the Blue and Gold came in the 22nd minute of the first half, as junior midfielder Mariana Madrigal connected with the back of the net from the left side.
Nearly five minutes later, junior midfielder Makensie Forsyth tallied the second goal for EOU off an assist from sophomore forward Alexandria Cuaresma.
Right before the break in the 44th minute, freshman forward Tegan Daviscourt recorded her first goal as a Mountaineer off an assist from junior forward Anna Roslander.
Roslander’s hard work ultimately paid dividends in the second half, as she logged EOU’s fourth and final goal of the match in the 78th minute off an assist from redshirt sophomore Natalie Mitchell.
