Hustlin’ Owls Knockout Boxers 1-0

FOREST GROVE, Ore.  – Playing the final 35 minutes a man down in a 0-0 game will normally turn into a loss, that was not the case Saturday night as the Oregon Tech Hustlin’ Owls scored the game winner in 67th minute and held Pacific scoreless on the way to hard fought 1-0 non-league win at Hanson Stadium.

Lucas Hale put in the game winner for Oregon Tech (2-0) off a rare double assist and Dino Rozac notched the shutout between the pipes as the Owls handed Pacific (1-1) their first loss of the season.

Pacific Goal Keeper Leyton Thommasen did a great job keeping Tech off the board in the first half as he had 8 saves facing 10 shots from the Hooter.

The two teams battled with Hale coming through for Oregon Tech off a very fast double assist from Ian Tarnovsky and Lodewijk Bloemzaad setting up Hale right in front of an empty net for the game’s only score.

Oregon Tech Head Coach Matt Munhall on the win, “Our boys showed a lot of heart and commitment on the defensive side of the ball.  The red card in the second half put us in a tough spot, but we stayed focused and made the most of an opportunity in front of our opponent’s goal. There were a lot of lessons to take away from this early season game and we will be better for it moving forward.”

Oregon Tech will hit the pitch again on Sunday playing at Linfield College at 5:00 pm. Live stats and video available at www.OITsports.com.
