Oregon Tech Men’s Basketball Named Team of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team has been named the “Team of the Week” for January 9-15, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The Hustlin’ Owls, who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll, vaulted themselves into a three-way tie for first place at 8-2 in CCC play with dominating wins over two ranked conference opponents.
On Saturday senior guard Brandon Halter led Oregon Tech with 25 points on the way to a lopsided 90-57 victory over No. 17 The College of Idaho. On Sunday, No. 5 Eastern Oregon arrived at Danny Miles Court smarting from an upset loss to Southern Oregon the night before hoping for a split on the weekend. It was not to be, as Oregon Tech topped the Mountaineers in almost every category for the 98-81 win. Freshman Mitchell Fink netted a career high 27 points.
Winners of nine in a row, Oregon Tech (15-5, 8-2 CCC) will be on the road next Friday and Saturday as they take on The Evergreen State College and Northwest University.
