OLYMPIA - Ashleigh Vandenbrink and Bailey Nelson both scored 17 points Friday night to lead the visiting Oregon Tech Lady Owls to a 77-49 Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball win over the Evergreen Geoducks in Costantino Recreation Center.

The win was the ninth in the last 10 games for the Lady Owls (16-5 overall, 9-2 CCC), who moved into sole possession of second place in the conference standings.

Senior center Gabi Fenumiai had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Geoducks (4-15, 3-9).

Oregon Tech got off to a quick 7-0 lead before the Geoducks battled back to pull within two points, 13-11, when Zaria Jones found Fenumiai for a fast break layin.

The visitors were able to stretch their lead to 17-12 by the end of the first quarter, and then they opened it up over the next two periods. The Lady Owls outscored the Geoducks, 49-19, during that 20-minute period to put the game away.

Vandenbrink hit a trio of three-pointers in scoring her 17 points, while Nelson was 8-for-11 from the field, most of those coming near the basket, on the way to her 17. Adding double-figure scoring were Nohea Waiwaiole with 13 points and Morgan Roberts-ILI with 10.

The Lady Owls shot 48 percent overall and finished with 18 assists on their 28 baskets, with Carly McIsaac and Waiwaiole both getting four assists.

Fenumiai was 7-for-10 from the field in scoring her 17 points and the double-double was her fourth in a row. Autumn Moorcroft scored 14 points for the Geoducks, who finished with 14 assists on their 16 baskets.

Evergreen shot 33 percent from the field and turned the ball over 31 times, with Oregon Tech turning those into 36 points.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow night, Evergreen hosting conference leader Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech traveling to Kirkland to face Northwest University.
