GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – The No. 17-ranked Corban University men's golf team competed against a number of ranked NAIA teams at the Coastal Collegiate Classic on Monday and Tuesday, and the Warriors finished strong en route to a fourth-place as a team.
RESULTS
"I was very pleased with the way our men battled and conducted themselves out on the course against elite competition," said Corban head coach Tom Graves. "These are some of the teams we will face in postseason play if we are fortunate enough to extend our season into the month of May!"
No. 3-ranked Texas Wesleyan finished in first overall, while No. 16-ranked Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) took second and No. 14-ranked University of Victoria (B.C.) placed third. With 16 total teams competing in Corban's biggest tournament of the fall, the Warriors combined for a three-round mark of 895 (302, 300, 293), registering their best round on Tuesday in the rain.
Devery Stewart led the way for the Warrior men with a tournament total of 221 (73, 74, 74) to tie for 13th overall, while Isaac Calderon registered a mark of 224 (75, 75, 74). Zach Lund and Blake Netter were Corban's next two golfers to come into the clubhouse with scores of 225 and 228, while rookie Rickey David notched a tournament score of 237.
"It was a very good measure as to how we stack up against many of the other ranked schools in the country, as well as the best individual players in the nation," said Graves. "Our men know they have a lot of work to do this offseason in order to meet the goals we have set out to achieve at the beginning of the season. Thanks to Mark Swift and the Salishan staff for being great hosts to this growing event. Go Warriors!"
Corban's next official competition is in early March at the Oregon Tech Spring Invite in Klamath Falls.
