Lady Yotes Rebound, Earn Road Win at Warner Pacific
PORTLAND, Ore. –
Jackie van Vliet and
Ashley Pagan combined for 33 kills, helping the College of Idaho record a crucial four-set road victory at Warner Pacific College, inside C.C. Perry Gym.
The Lady Yotes (18-4, 10-4 CCC) responded after a tough five-set loss last night at Multnomah for a 25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 28-26 victory – avenging a loss to WPC in Portland last season.
C of I pulled away from a 15-15 stalemate in Set 1, as kills from Pagan and van Vliet were followed by a combo-block from the duo, to build a lead that was never headed. A 9-2 run in Set 2 broke a 10-10 tie, giving the visitors a two set match lead.
The Knights (4-10, 4-10) turned to Janessa Mast in Set 3, pounding down eight kills – including three in a 9-1 run early in the set, to force a fourth set. WPC was in command at 20-15 in Set 4, but the Yotes scored eight of the next 10 points to regain the lead, with Pagan spiking down the winner on the third set point.
Pagan had 16 kills and 18 digs, with van Vliet tallying 17 kills and five blocks.
Marija Djonovic had 45 assists and 13 digs, with
Kilee Lopez logging 26 digs – surpassing the 2,000 dig mark for her C of I career.
Mast had a match-high 21 kills and 12 digs, with Melisa Ljuca adding 18 kills for WPC.
C of I returns home next week for key matches vs. Evergreen and Northwest.
