WARNER PACIFIC 2, MULTNOMAH 0: Knights Blank Lions in Makeup of Shifted Game
PORTLAND, Ore. – On a night when most of the field was obscured from the crowd by fog, the Warner Pacific College Knights managed to sneak two goals into the net for a 2-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory over the Multnomah University Lions, playing their final home match of the season, Friday evening at Delta Park.
The game between the two Portland rivals had originally been scheduled for Oct. 14, but was moved to accommodate a game between Warner Pacific and Eastern Oregon University that was postponed from earlier in the season due to a particular-smoky day in Portland caused by the Eagle Creek fire.
Harry Pilkington got the game-winner for the Knights with an unassisted goal in the 39
th minute in the first half. Pilkington later assisted on a second-goal by Frank Orellana in the 64
th minute that gave the visitors a little breathing room.
Bailey Thomason got the shutout win in goal for Warner Pacific, stopping a penalty kick attempt by the Lions'
Hayden Smedley in the 68
th minute that would have cut the Knights' lead in half.
Manuel Guillermo-Olivares took the loss for Multnomah while making two saves. Smedley and
Nicolas Mboungou had three shots apiece to lead the Lions, while Warner Pacific was led by Kingsley Armah with four shots.
