SALEM, Ore. – The No. 10-ranked Corban University men's soccer team dominated on Friday afternoon, scoring in the 2nd minute of play while never looking back en route to a 5-0 win over Multnomah University. The shutout victory was Corban's seventh of the campaign.

"The guys had some real nice stretches and purposeful possession today," said Corban head coach Aaron Lewis. "I was very pleased to add to our shutout total and play the right way most of the day."

Corban's first goal of the afternoon came in the second minute of play when the Warriors strung together 27-straight passes, with all 11 players on the pitch touching the ball prior to a good combination play up front leading to a through ball to Timur Zhividze who took a touch and then buried his opportunity to make it 1-0.

In the 22nd minute, Alex Segovia combined with Rolando Velazquez, and after Velazquez fed a perfect through ball to Segovia, the junior forward one-timed his shot into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0.

Velazquez ripped a shot that was saved seven minutes later, but Nathaniel Cheney was there to follow it up and blast it home on the open goal to make it 3-0 before the break.

In the second stanza, Zhividze received a layoff pass from Velazquez early on and one timed his shot into the bottom-right corner, extending Corban's advantage to 4-0.

Velazquez finished off his standout afternoon with an absolute stunner of goal, as after a mis-clearance from the Lions, Velazquez took it down off his chest and ripped a half-volley laser into the top-left corner, sealing the 5-0 triumph for the Warriors. Velazquez finished the afternoon with one goal and four assists, playing a part in every single one of Corban's goals.

Defensively, Jordan Farr earned his sixth shutout of the year with one save on the day. The Warriors outshot the Lions, 29-3, and Corban also held the 5-1 corner-kick edge.

Corban (12-1-2, 8-1-1 CCC) returns to the pitch on Saturday evening for an 8 p.m. kickoff on Senior Night vs. Walla Walla University.
