LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 11-ranked Eastern Oregon volleyball team had its six-match winning streak snapped on Friday as they were swept by Northwest at Quinn Coliseum in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
 
The Mountaineers (18-6, 12-3 CCC) were held to their lowest hitting percentage in conference action this season, finishing at just .136 with 23 errors. Both teams finished with an even 39 kills, but the Eagles (17-6, 11-4 CCC) were able to be more efficient with just 14 errors and a .221 hitting percentage.
 
Northwest, who is receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll, moved into fourth place in the conference with the victory, just a game back of EOU in the standings.
 
The Eagles were paced by Sarah Warner, who led the team in kills with 10 and digs with 14. Mattie Jo Johnson had nine kills and posted a .444 hitting percentage. Morgan Pilon, the older sister of EOU’s Madison Pilon, finished with 34 assists to lead all players.
 
On the Mountaineers’ side, senior middle hitter Madisen Garlie had 12 kills and three blocks, hitting .348 for the match. Sophomore outside hitter Megan Bunn added eight kills. Senior outside hitter Amy Arnzen had four block assists.
 
Defensively, freshman libero Kiley McMurtrey led all players with 17 digs. Pilon posted 18 assists and nine digs for the Mounties.
 
The Mountaineers next host Evergreen on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum as they continue Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend.
