KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech scored twice in each half on the way to a 4-0 shutout win over visiting Carroll College. The win for the Owls was the first ever over the Saints. Tech improves to 7-7-1 on the year and 6-5-1 in the Cascade Conference, Carroll falls to 5-7 in CCC play and 7-8 on the year.
The Owls will need to wait for results from around the rest of the conference tonight to see if they have clinched a playoff spot, if not they know they control their own destiny with a win Saturday on Senior day against University of Providence they are in the CCC Playoffs next weekend.
In Friday’s win over Carroll, Trinidad Flores led the Hooters with two-assists and what turned out to be the game winning goal. In the 25th minute Flores finished a great header from Lucas Hale across the box from about seven feet out to give the Owls the 1-0 lead.
Matthew Sai headed in a rebound in the 42nd minute giving Tech a 2-0 lead. On the play Luis Valdez headed a shot on frame that was saved by the Saints keeper only to have Sai head the ball into the back of the net for the 2-0 lead.
Carroll control tempo as was very active to start the second half but the Saints could never get back into the game thanks to good defensive work by the Owls led by Keeper Gerardo Skews who had 6 saves as he faced 24 shots on the day.
Tech broke the game open in the 63rd minute as Flores sent a great cross through the box that found Colton Grytness who finished from 15 feet putting the Owls up 3-0.
Flores was at it again just five minutes later, this time he set-up Valdez who scored from 12 feet out as Tech won going away 4-0.
The Saints out-shot Tech 24-11 for the game and had a 6-5 edge in shots on frame but Tech dominated the scoreboard for the win.
