Raiders Get Offensive Against Evergreen

Visiting Southern Oregon hit .358 as a team in defeating host The Evergreen State College, 25-20, 25-19, 25-17, Friday night in a Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball match played inside Costantino Recreation Center.

The Raiders (15-7 overall, 12-5 CCC) got off to an excellent start, hitting .417 in the opening set and carrying the momentum throughout the match against the Geoducks (8-17, 5-12), who hit .168 as a team.

Leading the way for the Raiders was Taylor Ristvedt with 15 kills and a .481 attack percentage, and she was followed closely by Makayla Hoyt with nine kills and a .692 percentage. Ristvedt also contributed one solo block and two block assists as the Raiders finished with seven team blocks.

Other standouts for Southern Oregon were Natalie James with 25 assists and Ashlyn Flynn with 16 digs.

Chloee Hunt had 12 kills and hit .360, while Bethanie Nelson added 11 kills and a .259 attack mark to lead Evergreen. Other top numbers came from Alexis Garrison with 30 assists and Hunt with one solo block and two block assists.

Evergreen closes out the home portion of its 2017 season tomorrow night against Oregon Tech. Seniors Cheyenne Baird and Matisse Davis will be honored prior to the match.
